| It all began with a wicker wastepaper basket... In 1959 Henry and Suzan Zakay, owners of a hardware store in downtown Montreal, decided to try a new product: a wicker wastepaper basket. They put it in their store window at 88¢ each and in a short time they had sold thousands. Soon after, this same basket was transformed into a marvellous lampshade on a wicker woven Chianti bottle and that too sold in the thousands. It was experiences such as these that would redefine for the next 41 years the direction of our company. By the early 1960's, Henry and Suzan were wholesaling the largest selection of fine handcrafted products in Canada. Being pioneers in this industry, they were the first rattan furniture suppliers in Canada and they introduced to consumers for the first time many original furniture pieces still popular today. We are still committed to that pioneering spirit and believe we offer the largest and finest collection of quality rattan furniture and baskets in Canada you'll ever find.
